Knitting: Checkered Hat

While it might seem that I only sew, I don’t. There are other crafts that I equally enjoy, such as knitting.

Last evening, while hanging with the BF, I pulled out my size 3 Hiya Hiya needles and started knitting a checkered hat. He and his dog, were really fascinated with the process and watched, for a bit, as my needles swiftly added stitches to the hat.

It’s only the beginning, so you really can’t see the contrast between the knit and purl stitches yet… but that will change as I progress.

Wide legged pants

The past few days, I’ve been viewing these shoes…

Just look at the detail on the back of them. Amazing, right? However, even though they caught my eye, I held off purchasing them. Why? Check out those heels.

I normally steer clear of anything stiletto related. Give me a chunky heel and I’m all over those, even if the heel is high.

Last night, I went back to the shoes and really started looking at them. That’s usually an indication that I will be making a move to purchase them. I’m in the process of selecting fabric for a gown to which I’ll be adding beads, rhinestones and sequins. These shoes would compliment the gown perfectly!

This morning, while I was looking at the shoes, I remembered that I had the above lovely fabric that has just been sitting in my fabric bin, waiting to be turned into something amazing and this morning, I’ve decided to make wide legged pants. So there you go, another outfit that would compliment these amazing shoes. Of course, I’ll need a blouse to compliment the wide legged/palazzo pants.

Yes, I ordered the shoes and they should be here on Friday. Even though I made the purchase with a gown in mind, I know I’ll be wearing the above fabric (once it’s been turned into and outfit) with these shoes.

Purchasing the shoes before the fabric…

Yesterday, I stumbled upon this delightful wedge heel and instantly purchased it on Amazon. Since I’m a Amazon Prime Member, I will have this tomorrow. You’ve got to love their two day delivery service.

I still haven’t chosen the fabric for these shoes and I still haven’t decided on the outfit I’ll create. I ‘m thinking of something in a warm gold since that compliments my complexion so nicely? What will I make? Oh, I will most likely create a sundress and perhaps some wide legged pants. We’ll see…

This is one of her favorite knits…

Although this is an old hat, it’s one of my daughter’s favorites that I knitted for her about four years. She wears it constantly. I told her this hat needed to be upgraded.

I’ve been knitting since I was eight; however, I didn’t venture into cables until about four years ago. This was one of my first successful cable knitted projects. Bonus points, that my daughter loved it so much!

The above photos were taken yesterday, a few hours after visiting the BF’s Roman Catholic church. The above picture is a sign that my daughter was happy.

She loves to lay on her stomach and relax. She’s my daughter. I do the same thing.

Completed dresses: McCalls 6612 – Knit Maxi Dress

I finally am getting around to posting pictures of the dresses that I’ve created. It’s McCalls 6612. Hopefully, the next picture, will actually show me wearing them.

While it might not look like they’re fitted they really are. The above, is the first one that I actually wore.

However, this is the one I actually started sewing first, but did not complete until last weekend. I only needed to add the hem to the sleeves and hem. This is my favorite and it’s what I wore to church this past Sunday.

Take a look inside my closet. Please excuse the floor, I am still cleaning, it should be finished by today. I can’t remember if I mentioned that I gave away a lot of my garments to Purple Heart. I hadn’t made most of the ones I donated.

It’s looking lonely in there, right? There are only three outfits in that closet, but they were all made by me! I’m really thrilled that I came up with this idea, since seeing an almost bare closet really forces me to start working myself back into the sewing equation.

Of course, I’m wearing more than these three outfits; however, they are mainly pants and a few skirts all garments that I don’t like too much.

What will I sew next?

I’m actually thinking about making my own version of the Vogue pattern that I’m showing below.

Isn’t it gorgeous? I’d make the tea length version. Although with the chilly temperatures we’ve been having, sleeveless outfits aren’t high on my priority list.
