Yes, I’m still here and I’m still staying creative; however, recently most of my crafting has been focused on knitting. Yes… I’ve been making more knitted washcloths!
Have you ever used a knitted washcloth? If not, you’re missing out! Granted the type of yarn you use has a lot to do with its awesomeness. You want something that is absorbent, which is why I only use non mercerized cotton. Mercerized cotton aren’t as absorbant. It “finishes” the cotton and blocks the cottons natural natural absorbancy. That’s definitely not what I want in a washcloth or a dishcloth.
Speaking of knitted cloths… I mainly use the moss or seed stitch. Whenever I’ve gifted my knitted washcloths to others, even the skeptics, have raved about how great they are. The most recent raver is the BF. This past weekend I made him one and told him to try it when he bathed. Well guess what? He raved about how well it felt on his skin and the lather it produced. The stitch used helped produce a lot of lather. Yes… it’s safe to say that he’s sold on my knitted washcloths.
Look at the above towels, aren’t they gorgeous? It’s called the Moscow Nights Towels. The BF thinks they are too gorgeous to use. I’ll definitely be using them once they are made. Once we are married, I’ll be sure to flood our home with numerous hand crafted items that I’ve made. He’s already getting a taste of what’s in store for him and he loves those items. Yes… he’s a keeper!
Anyway, the above towels, were featured in the March/April 2015 – Handwoven magazine. Yes… these were made with a loom. It’s a good thing, I have one of those, right?
These loom woven towels, definitely takes towels to a much higher level, don’t you think? Since I adore the colors used, I’ll be purchasing the Moscow Nights Towel kit This will be a project, that I’ll save for the cooler months. Speaking of which, in a few weeks, I’ll be starting to knit an afghan. If I work on it now, it should be finished in time for the cooler months.
I’m still deciding on the yarn to use; however, it most definitely will be wool and the brand will most likely be Malabrigo. Oh, how I love that yarn. It’s amazing, soft and I want to dive in a huge pile of its squishy softness. I’ll be using their washable wool yarn and so, that’s going to be a pricey afghan. I’m seriously thinking of using the moss stitch for the afghan and perhaps my size 10 Hiya Hiya Sharps Circulars. We’ll see…
My daughter, BF and I will be visiting his parents the weekend of the 12th. I’m hoping that I have a chance to make a few nice summery dresses. A casual and something dressy, since I believe we’ll be attending church with them.
