Wishing you all a wonderful Christmas holiday.
Kromski Sonata: Return to spinning
A few days ago, I set up Ruth, my beloved Kromski Sonata. Since that time, I’ve been spinning. I quickly learned that I needed to practice a bit before I got the consistent yarn that I’m used to seeing with my handspun, and I’m perfectly fine with that. I’m currently spinning with some of my raw wool that was turned into rolags. I have no project planned for the yarn. I’m just enjoying the process. Perhaps, as I progress, I’ll have a project in mind, however, even if I don’t, I’ll keep spinning.
One of the many things I love about my spinning wheel is that it’s portable. Ruth has traveled with me many places and will continue to do so. Towards the end of last week, I purchased some combed top from a local fiber artist. I’m looking forward to receiving it so that I can begin spinning.
Quarantine Knitting: Simple Ribbed Hat
My standard knitted hat is 1/4″ of seed stitch and then k3,p3 until I reach the desired length. Bind off, rinse, and repeat. This evening, I picked up one of my knits in progress and began knitting.

This knitted hat will be gifted to my father. He wears all the hats I’ve knit for him, in fact, my mother has taken some of his knitted hats.
Sewing Fleece absorbent liners for my daughters guinea pigs
This past December (December 15 to be exact) I got my daughter two male guinea pigs.

Their names are Yuuto (chinchilla grey) and Mareo (white). Throughout my life, I’ve had guinea pigs, so guinea pig care isn’t new to me, however, I must admit these guinea pigs have it great.

To reduce the headache of cleaning their cage (and expense) with disposable bedding I sewed their bedding using fleece and Uhaul furniture pad (which is made of 100% recycled denim and serves as the absorbent layer.

My daughter swaps out their liner daily, sometimes she misses a day but that doesn’t happen too often.

The bulk of the guinea pig care is done by her, of course, I pay for their food and will pay for their vet bills, however, everything else is mainly her. I get to enjoy their cute antics. Thus far, I’ve made five fleece absorbent liners for their C&C cage, and I plan to make a few more.

Bella, our BichonPoo kept sitting on their cage liners as they were being made, and so I sewed a blanket for her doggie bed. Since she likes burrowing under blankets, I made it extra large.
Socks, blankets, and more…
Although I’ve been quiet with blogging on all my sites. I’ve still been knitting. I finally finished the blanket that I was knitting for my daughter and since my last post in August, I’ve knit at least three pairs of socks. Currently, I’m knitting two pairs of socks. Of course, I’m knitting them two at a time, toe-up, and I’m using magic loop.
In addition, I’m knitting my first sweater. I started knitting a simple sweater from Very Pink Knits a few weeks ago, however, I’ve stopped knitting on that because I’ve decided to use a machine washable wool instead of the handwash wool that I’d been knitting.
